Originally we were going to take our 1997 Land Rover Discovery. Scott even started getting it ready for the trip, having the electric brake controller fitted, extra battery etc. He even went ahead and ordered spare parts from England, some to change now and others to have with us in case we need them whilst on the trip. However, we decided that it wouldn’t be sensible to take the Disco seeing as if anything went wrong with it, it would cost a bomb to fix and parts aren’t always easy to come by. I wont mention the part about Scott not being able to change the timing belt because he couldn’t get the bolt off…
So we went ahead and got ourselves a ‘91 80 series Land Cruiser. Thanks Mick and Tracey!!
Rocco Beast (as Scott has affectionately named the Cruiser) is pretty much all set for the trip. There are a few bits and pieces that need doing but nothing major. Just things like sorting out the anchor points, brake controller, clutch etc.
Rocco Beast is a 4.2L factory turbo diesel 80 series and comes pre equipped with roof racks, CB, storage drawers, winch, secondary fuel tank and dual batteries.
